Veham works because it does not try to do too much — it finds one feeling and holds it perfectly. The production by Deep Jandu is understated in the best way — supportive without overshadowing the vocal.
The performance by Harf Cheema is the centrepiece here — controlled where it needs to be, open where it counts. The chemistry of Harf Cheema, Gurlej Akhtar is embedded in every moment of Veham, making it as much a performance as a song.
In 2024, Punjabi produced many songs, but Veham was one of the handful that genuinely cut through. It fits the playlist for almost any occasion, which is rare — most songs have a narrow emotional window. This one does not.
The 2:46 runtime feels perfectly judged — long enough to develop its ideas, short enough to compel a second play. It is, at the end of it, a very good song — and sometimes that is the only explanation that matters.
