Dure by Papon, Iman Chakraborty

Not every song from Dure lingers, but Dure is the one that stays. Behind the melody is the work of Indraadip Das Gupta, whose composition choices give Dure its distinctive texture.

There are singers who perform songs and singers who live inside them. On Dure, Papon, Iman Chakraborty clearly belongs in the second group. Featuring Subhashree Ganguly, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Samontak Dyuti Maitra, Osh Mallick, the song carries the weight of the film's emotional arc and delivers it with conviction.

When it came out in 2022, Dure felt timely. Years later, it feels timeless. It fits the playlist for almost any occasion, which is rare — most songs have a narrow emotional window. This one does not.

The 6:39 runtime feels perfectly judged — long enough to develop its ideas, short enough to compel a second play. It is, at the end of it, a very good song — and sometimes that is the only explanation that matters.
